March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, causing 50,000 deaths annually. According to the CDC, if everyone who is 50 years or older were screened regularly, as many as 60% of deaths from colon cancer could be prevented.
At Covenant Surgical Partners, the majority of our partner facilities’ specifically focus on gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures. This March, we encourage everyone 50 and older and those who are at risk for gastrointestinal cancers to ask their primary care physician for more information about how screening colonoscopies can benefit them and save lives.
